Usually, it is believed that you will get a lot of happiness in return if you are an extrovert since you will be able to interact and socialize with a lot of people from various backgrounds. If you feel that you have been an extrovert since childhood and that you are comfortable in dealing different kinds of people, or if you are someone who has been wanting to be an extrovert, it is important to bear two important points in mind i.e. you must always think well before you reveal something to someone and you must be conscious about what you are saying and whether he/she is the right person to listen to you. If you are aware and careful about these two important aspects, then being an extrovert, will definitely help you in excelling in your life.
If you are an introvert, there is nothing to feel bad about it. You may not want to mingle with everyone but you must always try to improve your way of expressing your views so that you do not have to cut a sorry figure if you are asked to express your ideas in front of your friends or colleagues. Your communication skills will play a vital role in helping you excel in such a situation. You must therefore ensure that you are proficient in your regional language as well as in English.
I personally feel that wanting to be an ambivert would be the best option. But you must be capable of selecting the person with whom you will be able to share your views and thoughts without any hesitation and you must keep an arm's length from people who you feel are not worth discussing your thoughts with. Sometimes people may try to take advantage of your calmness, it is then that you should bring out the qualities of an extrovert that is within you and show them their place. At times, your silence will help you in dealing with people who may try to irritate you with their mocking commentary which is where your skills of possessing the qualities of an introvert would help.
It is thus good to strike a balance between being an introvert and an extrovert by being an ambivert in life, if you are aware and conscious about the appropriate time for you to speak and express your views. But, you must not forget to keep calm as well!
